Air ambulance benefits from site safety drive

The donation, linked to the exemplary site safety record, will form part of an ongoing scheme which will see local charities benefit throughout the construction project.

Work on site at FM2 began earlier this year and it is expected to be completed by summer 2019. SSE and contractor HZI will be supporting groups in the local area throughout the construction period by rewarding safe working practices on site through charitable donations.

Kerry Garner, West and South Yorkshire Regional Fundraising Manager for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said: “We’re thrilled to receive such a generous donation from the FM2 project.

“As a charity we rely solely on the generosity of organisations and the people of Yorkshire to enable us to continue providing this life-saving service. Donations such as these are the life-blood of the charity and for that we are incredibly grateful.”

Sonny Brightwell, SSE site manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to make a donation to such a worthwhile cause as the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. As a responsible company we want to make sure that we make a positive impact on the communities we live and work in.”

Justin Mayes, HZI site manager, said “For both HZI and SSE safety is our number one priority and we are always pleased to be recognised for our high safety standards. Being able to donate to such a worthwhile local cause means a lot to all of the teams at FM2.”
