Alice has a party to remember to celebrate turning 104

“It was out of the blue but really nice.” Alice was born and grew up in Barnsley and won a trophy as a netball player in her teens. She worked at a shirt factory and as a ticket conductor before marrying her late husband Robert Curtis in 1929.

The couple had three children, Donald and Norma and Robert. She has seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. She also used to live in Wakefield, on Anderson Road and Castleford Road.
