Annual gala will be the biggest the town has ever seen

Ossett's annual gala will bring a carnival atmosphere to the town all day tomorrow.

There will be music, dancing, stalls, food, donkey rides and art workshops for children on the precinct and inside the town hall from 10am until 4pm.

The gala will be officially opened by Craig Heppinstall, winner of this year’s Gawthorpe World Coal Carrying Championship.

Gala entertainers will include the Westgate Cheerleaders, Spice Colourguard, Wakefield Morris and the Northern Theatre Organ Trust.

Cash will be raised for good causes at the event, which will be hosted by Ellie Davies, who will guide visitors through they day’s events with shout-outs and requests.

Organisers said tomorrow’s gala would be bigger than in previous years, with 18 stalls inside the town hall and 51 in the precinct outside.

Local action group Building Ossett Better, which helps organise the event, will have a gala gazebo near the town’s memorial statute.
