Georgia Greening, 13, is through to the final of a national competition - something her grandma Betty Gooch knows all about as she was crowned Miss Lee Target in 1970.

Ossett Academy pupil Georgia beat off competition from thousands of girls across the country to be named as one of the 20 finalists in her age group for Miss Teen GB.

Mrs Gooch, of Walton, is “thrilled” for her granddaughter as are Georgia’s parents Alan and Sarah Greening.

Georgia told the Express: “They are really excited for me and happy that I’ve got so far in the competition. My nanna was a beauty queen and she won in 1970.”

Dad Alan Greening said: “This is not Georgia’s first foray into a beauty pageant, as she was a runner up in Wakefield Express’s Bonny Baby competition in 2003/04 when she was 11-months-old. She also wants to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps.

“Georgia will be representing Ossett and is looking for sponsorship from people or companies to help her prepare for the final and also to raise money for her chosen charity. Please email [email protected] for more information.”
