DRIVERS are being turned away from filling stations as supplies of petrol and diesel run out.

Garages across the city have been forced to close after a massive increase in demand.

The crisis was sparked after tanker drivers threatened strike and a government minister advised people to stockpile supplies.

Asda, in Durkar, has completely run out of petrol and diesel but is expecting a delivery at 5pm tonight (Thursday).

Total Garage, on Doncaster Road in Crofton, has also completely run out and a delivery is not expected until next week.

Lupset Garage, on Horbury Road, has also run out of unleaded.

And Grange Service Station, on Denby Dale Road, only has diesel left.

But many other garages say they are fully stocked.

Both petrol and diesel are still available at Morrison’s, on Dewsbury Road, Sainsburys, on Ings Road, Red Beck Service Station, on Doncaster Road, Jacobs Well Lane Filling Station, Newton Hill Garage, on Leeds Road, and in Normanton at Prospect Garage and Q8 Petroleum on Castleford Road.
