Brownlee brothers in Children in Need run

Olympic stars Alistair and Jonny Brownlee took part in a county-wide ‘extreme’ triathlon to raise money for Children in Need.

The TRY-athlon fundraiser involved BBC Blue Peter presenters Barney Harwood, Lindsey Russell and Radzi Chinyanganya running, cycling, rowing and bungee jumping across Yorkshire and beyond.

And they were joined along the way by famous faces from the world of athletics.

The Brownlee brothers, both accompanied the Blue Peter trio as special guests at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park for the final leg of the challenge – a four mile run.

The TRY-athlon, which was updated throughout its three day course on the Blue Peter website, was intended to inspire viewers to take on their own challenges for Children in Need.

The entire event covered 111 miles and included a 20 mile cycle to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park ahead of the Brownlees’ guest appearance.

The challenge opened with a bungee jump off the Tees Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough.

A four mile row in Durham followed, when the presenters were joined by Olympic rower Helen Glover.
