A new chain of Netto supermarkets is set to have its headquarters in Ossett.

Supermarket giants Sainsbury’s and Netto have teamed up to launch 15 new stores across the North of England.

The headquarters will be at Westgate Court in Ossett, where Netto has applied for planning permission to display a company logo sign.

Netto said jobs would be created at the headquarters, but refused to confirm how many.

A spokesman said: “Our headquarters will be based at Westgate Court in Wakefield and will create a number of local jobs.

“We’re continuing to develop plans to open new stores across the north of England and will update as we progress.”

The new venture was launched under deal between Sainsbury’s and Dansk Supermarked, Denmark’s biggest retailer.

The new stores will have their distribution centre in Scunthorpe.
