A new discount store will bring 30 jobs to the city when it opens next month.
A branch of 99p Stores will open on the upper floor of the Ridings on Tuesday, August 6.
It will be the third branch of the stores to open in West Yorkshire, taking on a 7,000 sq ft unit.
The shops sell around 5,000 different products, ranging from 99p fishing garden gnomes to pregnancy testing kits.
And the new branch is currently undergoing a £250,000 makeover ahead of its opening, in place of a former fashion shop.
Barbara Winston, centre manager for the Ridings, said: “This is one of our largest units in the centre so it’s fantastic news for The Ridings.
“The 99p store is a great addition to the centre and is another reason for shoppers to visit.
“With such a variety of retailers within The Ridings, including leading fashion retailers, homeware stores and unique craft shops, there really is something for everyone.”
Last month it was revealed that Waterstones and WH Smith would both be vacating their units in the Ridings so that Primark could expand.
Leases on the two units are up for renewal in September.
But a spokeswoman for the Ridings told the Express this week that negotiations were still ongoing with both retailers about the offer of alternative space in the centre.
