A Wakefield public sector buying organisation has handed £2m to its customers under an annual loyalty scheme.
Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation (YPO), at Wakefield 41 Industrial Estate, distributed the cash to 25,000 organisations including councils, police forces, schools and the NHS.
Organisations based in Yorkshire got the biggest share, benefitting from a share of almost £800,000 as part of YPO’s Share of Profits Loyalty Scheme.
Simon Hill, Managing Director of YPO, said: “Our customers are very important to us so I am delighted that, once again, we are giving back and rewarding those who spend with YPO.
“YPO is a public sector-owned company and all our profits go back into the public purse.
“At a time when the public sector is experiencing increased financial pressures, I am pleased that, through the loyalty scheme, we continue to deliver added value to our customers.”
Since 2011, more then £5.4m has been redistributed to customers under the loyalty scheme by YPO, which is owned by a group of 13 local authorities.
The share of the annual profit is based on how much each customers spends with YPO in a calendar year.
YPO, which has an annual turnover of £400m, was established in 1974 and is the UK’s largest public sector buying organisation,
