Cain Dingle to lunch with the ladies to help raise funds for Wakefield Cathedral

Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle will be dining with local ladies to help raise money for Wakefield Cathedral next month.

Actor Jeff Hordley, will attend a ladies’ lunch at the Cedar Court Hotel on March 15.

Tickets cost £40 and places are limited.

Wakefield Cathedral launched its latest fundraising campaign back in November.

It needs £2.5m for the next phase of its restoration project - Renewing Wakefield Cathedral, Restoring Our Heritage, which will see the East end of the landmark transformed with new lighting, heating and cleaned stone.

It is hoped fundraising events like the ladies’ lunch, and donations from members of the public will help the cathedral reach its target.

In December, the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded an £86,700 development grant to the Cathedral, so that detailed plans can be drawn up.

Cathedral officials hope to submit the plans to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a second round bid for a grant of £1.7m in summer 2014, with a decision expected in early autumn.
