Castleford Tigers trio pitched in on '˜Give Back Day'
Castleford Tigers players past and present mucked in during a '˜Give Back' day at their old amateur club.
Prop Andy Lynch, assistant coach Danny Orr and former Tigers’ stand-off Grant Anderson were part of 50-strong grassroots task force at Kippax Welfare where they starter their careers.
The RFL Give Back To Your Club’ initiative saw the trio and their families volunteer to help make their clubhouse and grounds a better place.
Mr Lynch, who painted with his son Tristen, said: “The buzz around the place was something to be proud of. It was great to see so many parents and kids come together and work as a team to make our club a better place to be.
“I played most of my junior days at Kippax and have been coaching here since I was 18, so it was great to be involved and do my part with my family to make a noticeable improvements at Kippax. This is the first time that we have run the Give Back To Your Club initiative at Kippax and the day was a real success and on the back of that we are already planning a second day before the end of the summer. The end result is that we all want a safe and clean club where the kids and parents are proud to say they are a part of our club.”
Tigers assistant coach Danny Orr was also full of praise for the ‘Give Back’ day at Kippax Welfare.
The grassroots volunteer effort saw different sports sections at the club - football, cricket and rugby - and the community come together to support the club.
Mr Orr said: “It was great to see so many of the next generation from the Kippax community all pulling together to help the Welfare. I had a fun morning painting with my son, Iwan, and was proud to be part of it.
“A great day was had by all and this is something that we should do every year to help grow this fantastic community club.”
