Businesses have launched a campaign to celebrate new initiatives in the city.
The Wakefield City Centre Partnership (WCCP) – a committee of business owners – has set up the Wonder of Wakefield campaign.
It will inform shoppers and retailers about events happening in the city during the festive season.
The campaign includes a Wonder of Wakefield Christmas guide – a booklet on events and offers in shops, bars, restaurants and arts venues.
Visitors will also be able to taste one-off products created by food and drink retailers for the Wonder of Wakefield food trail.
These include truffles made by Feather’s Confectionery in The Ridings Shopping Centre, a gin cocktail from Hogarths and a cake from Deli Central.
WCCP co-chairwoman Sara Hassan said: “We are hoping to bring the people of Wakefield something special this Christmas, including more family-friendly events, loads of great special offers and some brand new and exciting products.
“We want to put Wakefield back on the map as a Christmas destination and give people more reasons to enjoy the shops, restaurants, bars and arts venues that the city has to offer.”
The Wonder of Wakefield campaign was launched at The Hepworth on Thursday, October 15.
More details about the food trail will be announced soon. For updates follow #WoW on Twitter.
