A charity lunch raised more than £13,600 for the district’s budding stars.
Almost 200 business people and their guests, attended the Wakefield Annual Charity Christmas Lunch (WACCL) in aid of the Theatre Royal Performance Academy, at the Cedar Court Hotel last week
Launched three years ago, the academy provides regular training for 5 to 19-year-olds in drama, dance and singing.
Chairman of WACCL, Ian Taylor said: “Local business people sponsored, supported and gave generously to this very worthy charity. We are delighted with how much was raised and this will support more than 25 people for a year”.
The committee is now planning a summer family barbecue event in conjunction with local business people to raise money for one or more charities across the district.
Mr Taylor added: “When we say Wakefield is the best place to live and work, then it’s essential for us all to make a difference and where possible to create a bright and promising future.
“We must create a great supporting legacy for young people across the Wakefield District.
“May I thank everyone who supported us in 2013.”
