Boots, at Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre, Castleford, will be open from 10am-4pm on December 26 and 27.

Dr Phil Earnshaw, chairman of NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “The last thing anyone wants for Christmas is to be poorly, but if you do find yourself feeling unwell, your pharmacy can help you with more than you might think.

“Pharmacists are highly trained professionals who can offer expert advice and treatment for many minor health problems.

“Remember while you’re Christmas shopping to stock up your medicine cabinet with items such as mild pain killers, indigestion remedies and cough and cold remedies.

“And don’t forget to order your repeat prescriptions from your GP that you may need during the holidays.”
