Celebrity chef Brian Turner says it will be ’ grand to be back in Yorkshire’ for the Wakefield Festival of Food, Drink and Rhubarb.
The Ready Steady Cook chef will create culinary treats during a demonstration at the annual three-day festival which takes place next weekend.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to coming back to Yorkshire for the festival and of course fish and chips.
“Rhubarb is fantastic for cooking with because you can do so much with it.
“It’s got a sweet quality to it but it can be used in both sweet and savoury dishes.
“It’s all about practicing and experimenting to see what works.
“I’m hoping the demonstration will be fun and educational and will encourage people to go away and try the recipes at home.”
The festival, which starts on Friday, February 20 will include some of the region’s tastiest foods and most talented chefs from across the country.
There will also be a Yorkshire Market street entertainment from dance group, the Rhubarb Tarts and the return of the popular Dame Ruby Rhubarb.
Coun Les Shaw, cabinet member for culture and sport said: “It’s not long before the fun begins at our Food, Drink and Rhubarb Festival and I am reminding people to get the date in their dairy and not to miss out on the weekend of treats.
“There is so much is happening, with something for everyone with a chance to see cookery demonstrations from some of the best celebrity and local chefs, enjoying a variety of rhubarb flavoured food. There will also be a great line up of fun street entertainment.”
More than 40 stalls will be selling a variety of cold and warm rhubarb themed food, such as rhubarb fudge, pizza, sausage and cheesecake.
There will also be rhubarb related events at Trinity Walk throughout the weekend including a Man Vs Food challenge, baking competition and a cooking demonstration.
And children’s TV character Mr Bloom will be encouraging youngsters to explore nature at The Ridings from noon on Saturday, February 22.
The festival will take place in Wakefield Cathedral precinct from Friday, February 20 to Sunday, February 22.
It will run from 10am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
