Children in Need grant for project

Eastmoor Community Project will use the funding to deliver holiday activities to disadvantaged children and young people who live in areas of deprivation.

The project will run a programme of activities including arts and crafts, sports, cooking, storytelling, drama and music to help build the young people’s skills, improve their confidence and support their emotional health and well-being.

This latest boost from the Children in Need’s small grants programme brings the total invested across Wakefield to more than £293,000.

Christine Bann, manager at Eastmoor Community Project said: “It’s great news to hear that we’ve been awarded with this funding from BBC Children in Need. A huge thank you to everyone that has made this possible.”

BBC Children in Need awards grants at seven points during the year and funds two types of grants, both of which are open to new or existing applicants.

A main grants programme is for grants over £10,000 per year to support projects for up to three years. Meanwhile, a small grants programme includes grants up to and including £10,000, and has been refreshed to support projects for up to three years.
