Choose your market trader of the year

VOTES are being taken to find the district’s favourite market trader.

The title of Market Trader of the Year will be awarded to a trader at each of Wakefield Council’s markets.

And whoever is crowned the overall winner will receive £250 towards their trading costs.

Coun David Dagger, cabinet member with responsibility for markets, encouraged people to acknowledge the contribution market traders make to their communities.

He said: “Our district is bustling with fantastic markets selling products at competitive prices.

“Each market has its own unique character but they all offer shoppers a warm welcome with friendly traders - perfect for Christmas shopping.”

To vote, pick up a leaflet from any of the council’s markets, fill it in and hand it in to a member of markets staff.

Voting will close on Thursday, December 20.
