It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Wakefield.
Everywhere you go there are people taking part in festive events.
Wakefield Rotary Club have done a fundraising drive around Sandal on a sleigh built by inmates at Wakefield Jail.
Meanwhile students from the Priory Centre in Crofton have made Christmas cakes and donated them to the Salvation Army at Castleford.
The Ridings shopping centre even had live reindeer in the mall for children to pet and feed.
And earlier in the month about 60 pensioners from Kettlethorpe were treated to a traditional Christmas lunch at Hendal Primary School. The do was funded by a £500 donation from Asda. The meal was served by children from the school.
Sandal Methodist Church has also held its third Christmas Tree Festival. The two-day event, which takes place every two years, features a church lined with Christmas trees, which have been decorated by various church groups, from the toddlers to Men’s Circle.
Nursery children and Rainbows and Brownies sang at the event.
