It coincides with a national End Hunger Day of fasting, which the Bishop of Wakefield, Rt Rev Stephen Platten is also taking part in.

The church leaders will also be calling for food donations. Services will be held at 10.30am, 1pm or 7.30pm.

The Rev Canon Andi Hofbauer, of Wakefield Cathedral said: “Let us not just think about those who go hungry this Lent, but do something about it. Make a pledge and bring food stuff to the cathedral to donate to some of our more needy families through our food banks in the city.”
