City falls silent to remember Tunisia victims

The city has paid tribute to those killed in the Tunisia terrorist attack with a minute’s silence.

People gathered at the war memorial outside Wakefield County Hall at noon as the Mayor of Wakefield June Cliffe led the silence and a short memorial service.

A total of 38 people, 30 of whom were British, were killed when gunman Seifeddine Rezgui opened fire on a beach in the resort of Sousse on Friday, June 26.

Wakefield joined in the national minute’s silence which was announced by the Prime Minister on Monday.
