City Fields housing gets go-ahead

The second phase of housing at the City Fields development has been approved by planners.

Permission has been granted for 171 homes to be built off the Wakefield Eastern Relief Road.

The houses will be a mixture of two, three and four bed detached, semi-detached and terraced properties.

And the development will also include an area of open space and a children’s playground.

Outline plans for this phase were given the go-ahead in December but a reserved matters application, setting out the plans in more detail, was approved last week.

The whole of City Fields will be made up of around 2,500 new homes, leisure, retail and business space, a new primary school, health facilities and parkland.

A detailed masterplan was drawn up in 2016 but it could take up to 20 years to be completed.
