COMMUNITY MEMORIAL: I’m still inviting comments about having our very own community memorial, like most other communities have. Any comments or feedback will be greatly appreciated, so please e-mail me your thoughts. I believe it is important to remember the sacrifices made by many in the two World Wars and we should never forget what they went through in order for us to enjoy the freedom we currently have. I am now chasing up people for quotes for such a memorial and if any local companys wants to help please get in touch with me.

TAXIS DRIVERS CONVICTION POLICY REVIEW: A review of the conviction policy for hackney carriage and private hire drivers adopted by the council on January 1 2011 is being undertaken. If anyone wants to make a comment or suggest any changes can they get in touch with either me or Ghulam Azram or e-mail the council licensing department with their comments and views.

EID MILAD UL NABI: The annual milad peace march will take place Sunday, January 29 and will follow the normal route and lets hope we get as good turn out as in previous years to make it a joyous milad celebration. I would like to ask all Muslims in Wakefield to try to make the event as the committee behind the milad peace march work very hard to organise the event and they deserve the community’s thanks.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: With gratitude, all life appears as a blessing – without gratitude, all of life is perceived as a burden.
