FIT AND FRIENDLY: The Fit and Friendly Club are having a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday, September 30 from 10.45am to 12pm in St Swithuns Community Centre. As well as coffee there will be a raffle, tombola, cake stall and a bag stall.
WELCOME CLUB: Now runs a monthly luncheon club. The next dates are October 4, November 1 and December 13. The cost is £2.50 and this includes a two course lunch, unlimited tea and coffee, biscuits, bingo and a raffle. The Welcome Club meets every Tuesday from 1pm – 3 pm at Wakefield Evangelical Church, on Malham Road. HARVEST SERVICE: At St Andrew’s on Sunday at 10.15am the Harvest Service will be led by the Rev Dawn Ingham, and the guest speaker is Tineke Bentley who is from St Andrew’s church in Mara, Tanzania - a charity supported by St Andrew’s, Wakefield. Tineke will read from the gospel of Luke and Gill Denyer will read from Phillippians. Prayers for the church, community and world will be by Diane Bunting. Refreshments will be served following the service and there will also be calendars and various goods on sale supporting the Water for Life project.
SIMPLY LEISURE: At St Swithun’s on Monday from 1pm - 3pm Simply Leisure will watch the Pocket Panto theatre group perform Music Hall . Entrance is £1 and includes refreshments that will be served during the meeting, and this is a performance not to be missed.
LITTLE FISHES: At St Andrew’s church on Thursday, September 29 from 9.15am - 11pm the Little Fishes group for toddlers, parents and carers will meet. Entrance is £1 per child and includes toast, fruit and a drink and everybody is welcome.
COMMUNITY CAFE: At St Andrew’s church from Monday to Thursday 10am - 2pm the Your Space community cafe is open for light lunches, snacks and homemade produce.
TRINITY SERVICE: The preacher at the 10.45am service at Trinity Methodist church on Sunday is Mr Alan Spurr. At 6pm Rev Jennifer Gill will lead worship. All are welcome.
ADULT EDUCATION: Classes at St Swithun’s Community Centre are as follows : Arts & Crafts, Computing, Counselling, Embroidery and Beaded Treasures, English, Employment Skills, ESOL ( English for speakers of other languages), Health & Social Care, Maths, Mosiac, and Yoga. EASTMOOR ANGLING CLUB: On September 30 there will be a Community Action Day in the area. This will be in partnership with other organisations. Some of the activities will be taking place on the Southern Washlands. The fishing lake is to be landscaped and there will be a litter collection. Local people will have the opportunity to discuss the flora and fauna that lives there. Meet at St Swithuns at 9.30am or go straight down to the lake for 10am.
