BAPTISM SERVICE: At St Andrew’s Church on Sunday at 10.15am the proper 24 baptism service will be led by the Rev Dawn Ingham, preacher the Rev Dawn Ingham, readings taken from Thessalonians and Matthew will be by John Allott and prayers for the church, community and world will be by Pam Aveyard. Refreshments will be served following the service.

SIMPLY LEISURE: At St Swithun’s community centre on Monday from 1pm to 3pm Simply Leisure will listen to a talk by a representative from Pollards Optical Clinic, and a further talk on being a handyman. Entrance is £1.50 and includes refreshments.

LITTLE FISHES: At St Andrew’s Church on Thursday, October 20 from 9.30am to 11am the Little Fishes group for toddlers, mums and carers will meet. Entrance is £1 per child and includes toast, fruit and a drink.

COMMUNITY CAFE: At St Andrew’s Church the Your Space community cafe is open Mondays to Thursdays from 10am to 2pm for light lunches, snacks and homemade produce. Your Space is also available for parties, funeral teas, etc, inquire at the cafe.

TRINITY SERVICE: The preacher at Trinity Methodist Church on Sunday at 10.45am is David Hann of Ossett. The 6pm service will be led by Rev Naomi Kaiga and will include communion.

EASTMOOR RESIDENTS GROUP: The next meeting of the group will be on Monday, October 17 at 7pm, at St Swithuns centre on Arncliffe Road. If you need any further information contact Chris Croxall on 01924 247647.

ARCHIVES CALENDAR: The archives 2012 calendar is now available at £3.75. Copies can also be bought from the centre, contact the office, or call 01924 361212. Proceeds go towards supporting the archives.

ANGLING NEWS: The next match on the Calder will take place on Sunday. The draw will be held at the lockkeeper’s house at 7am with fishing from 7.30am to noon.The leaders in the championship are A Vine on 31 points, Dave Lea 26, Phill on 20, and Roger on 25. The Southern Washlands lake is undergoing some landscaping work and work on the river is due to start soon. Hopefully this will add permanent pegging as a feature.
