THANKS: The Brass and Carols evenings at the Bull’s Head, Horbury, raised £437.30 for Martin House Children’s Hospice. Adam Bell, who organised the event, would like to thank the musicians who gave up their time to come and play, the patrons and staff of the Bull’s Head and Denby Dale Lions for their generosity. THANKS: A concert and collection at Ossett Church on Friday, December 9 with Horbury Singers and Horbury Band raised £777 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Thanks are expressed to all who supported the event.

COMPUTER CLASSES: Learn how to use the internet, email friends and socialise and shop online. Wakefield Council is offering free classes at libraries across the district. Call Horbury Library on 01924 303060 to reserve your place.

GOSH: GOSH is a group supporting carers who look after those with learning disabilities and covers Gawthorpe, Ossett, Sitlington and Horbury. It meets on the first Monday of the month at 10am to noon at Ossett Health Centre on New Road. This year’s Christmas Celebration at the Bull’s Head was yet again kindly supported by the Ossett and Horbury Round Table who called in with Santa and his sleigh and presents for the guests. This is the 21st year with support from the Round Table and organiser Margaret would like to pass on her sincere thanks on behalf of all at the group. SOCIAL: Horbury Social Club is meeting next Wednesday, January 11 from 2pm to 4pm in the library. The meeting will have a movie theme featuring Wakefield Movie Makers.
