THE KING’S WAY CHURCH: The address at the evening service at Christ Church last Sunday was given by Methodist minister Rev Mike Jones. There will be no coffee morning on Saturday, February 4 as the church will be used for the United Reformed Church secretary’s support day. There will be a coffee morning at Ossett War Memorial Community Centre for the Elizabethans. The church will be open for prayer and meditation on Tuesdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Services on Sunday, January 29 will be conducted at 10.30am by Rev Mike Jones and 6pm by Rev JM Gill of Castleford.

INDOOR CAR BOOT SALE: Will be held on behalf of Ossett Labour Group at Ossett War Memorial Community Centre on Saturday, February 18 at 10am to 1pm.  Bookings can be made by contacting the organiser by email at or 01924 263618. The booking fee is £7 per table and as they are limited, early booking is advisable.

ZUMBA CLASSES: Take place every Monday from 8.15pm to 9.15pm at West Yorkshire Theatre Dance School, Station Road, Ossett, and every Wednesday at Horbury School from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Please email Aimie on for more details.

WEDDING EXHIBITORS REQUIRED: Trinity Church holds a wedding fair on Sunday, April 29 between 11am and 4pm and still have a few stalls available for exhibitors at £60. If you are interested in exhibiting contact Caroline on 01924 278499 or 07738 239110 for further information.

OSSETT PROBUS CLUB: Is a club for retired men which meets at Ossett Community Centre on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month 10am to 11.30am. Members chat over a coffee or tea and then listen to a speaker on a wide variety of topics. The club, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, would like to welcome new members. The next meeting is on Wednesday, February 8, with a talk on George Formby by Laurie Tawn.

MARKET DAYS: Don’t forget Tuesday and Friday are market days in Ossett. You will find a vast selection of stalls both outside on the precinct and inside the town hall. Please make full use of these facilities as markets are at threat if they are not used. There are also toilet facilities inside the town hall on market days as well as a coffee shop which is run in aid of Wakefield Hospice.
