WRENTHORPE GARDENING CLUB: The first meeting of 2012 will take place on Wednesday, February 1 at 7.30pm, in Wrenthorpe Village Hall. The speaker is Dr Derek Maitland, his topic is Growing Dahlias.  The competition classes are 1. A winter plant arrangement; 2. Any other horticultural exhibit. Visitors and new members are warmly welcome.  Visitors are charged £1 for an evening’s entertainment or if you wish to join, the annual membership fee is £5.  

WRENTHORPE VILLAGE SINGERS: If you enjoy singing you will enjoy the Wrenthorpe Village Singers. Come along to the first meeting of this new village activity which is open to all who love singing for pleasure which will be in the village hall on Thursday February 2, 1.45-3pm. Time will be spent on discussing how the group should be organised and what you would like to sing; music of the sixties, songs from the shows or folk songs. MUSICAL EVENING: There will be an evening of acoustic songs at the Methodist Hall February 4 at 7.30 in aid of the Cross Project. Tickets are £5 and can be reserved by ringing 01924 370302 or can be bought on the night.

THANK YOU: A big thank you to Wrenthorpe Aged Welfare for organising the “Christmas” party held last Saturday in Wrenthorpe Village Hall. Everyone who attended had a really enjoyable time.

ST ANNES: On Sunday the Parish Eucharist is at 10.00am and children will meet in the Church hall. Light refreshments will be served at the end of the service. On Wednesday Holy Communion is at 9.15am followed by refreshments with the church remaining open until noon.

WRENTHORPE METHODIST CHURCH: On Sunday at 10am. Revd. Jenny Gill will be preaching and everyone is welcome.

JUBILEE DAY: The Community Association is organising a celebration event at the village hall and surrounding area, perhaps extending to the recreation ground, to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The weekend of celebrations throughout the country is from Saturday 2nd June to Tuesday 5th June. All the various groups in Wrenthorpe are invited to get together and join in the fun. All ideas welcome. The village hall could also be open for indoor displays and we will try to accommodate everyone in the hall should it rain!
