CAR BOOT SALE: Thornes Junior FC is holding a car boot sale tomorrow and on Saturday, August 20 between 8am and noon at Queen’s Drive playing fields, Ossett. Cars/vans £10. WMDC approved. Toilets and refreshments available.

FLOWERS THROUGH THE SEASONS: An evening of floral arrangements with Jane of Blackburn’s Florists takes place on Monday, August 1 at Ossett War Memorial Community Centre, Prospect Road. GAWTHORPE NEIGHBOURHOOD PACT MEETING: Takes place on Wednesday, August 3 from 7pm till 8pm at Maypole Children’s Centre.

THE KING’S WAY CHURCH: tomorrow from 10am to noon the church will hold its annual coffee morning and clothes plus collection for CART (Christian Africa Relief Trust) when unwanted items including clothing, household goods, etc, can be brought to the church. The church has donated £1,000 to the Somalia Famine Appeal. Both services on Sunday, July 31 at 10.30am and 4pm will be conducted by the Rev Kay Alberg. The 4pm service will be followed by a tea and will be a farewell meeting for both Kay and her husband Ron Golightly who are shortly to retire to the North East of England.

MARKET DAYS: Don’t forget Tuesday and Friday are market days in Ossett. You will find a vast selection of stalls both outside on the precinct and inside the town hall.

OSSETT POLICE STATION SURGERIES: Ossett police hold surgeries every Friday on the outside market between 10am and 2pm. The next surgery at Broadroyd House, Fairfield Road, takes place on Friday, July 29 between 10am and 11am.
