BARBECUE: The PCC’s social events committee holds a barbecue lunch at the Church Institute on Sunday, August 14.  There will be no licensed bar so feel free to bring your own drinks. Adults £6, children £3.50. To book, phone 01924 826220. 

AUCTION FOR FUN AND FUNDRAISING: A planning meeting for this autumn event, on Saturday, October 22, was held yesterday, however, if you like to help phone John Wade on 01924 825524.

OUTWOOD PARISH CHURCH SERVICE DAYS AND TIMES: Today, Springhills Sheltered Housing communions 9.45am, eucharist at noon. Tomorrow (Saturday) eucharist 8am. Sunday, August 7, morning prayer and eucharist 8am, parish mass 10am, children’s group in vestry, tea/coffee afterwards; evening prayer 6.30pm. Tuesday, August 9 eucharist noon. There will be no further weekday services until Friday, August 19.

PARKSIDE METHODIST CHURCH SERVICES: Services on Sunday, August 7 will be led at 10.30am by Sandra Oldroyd, the evening service at 6pm will be at Trinity and will be the recognition service for Irene Hayes.

WAKEFIELD & DISTRICT FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY: The society welcomes Susan Deal tomorrow (Saturday) whose topic is The Workhouse. The venue is Outwood Memorial Hall. Doors open 9.45am for a 10.30am start.

KEEP OUTWOOD LIBRARY OPEN: Many thanks to all those who attended the town hall where the group met David Dagger and Charlie Keith. A meeting was being held Tuesday, August 2 with both David and Charlie to discuss the next steps. Karl has also met MP Ed Balls, who advised will assist in any way he can. PACT MEETING: Police and Communities Together (PACT) meets on Thursday, August 18 7pm-8pm at Outwood Memorial Hall. Lofthouse Colliery and Railway Terrace are remaining priority areas and any incidents need reporting on the non-emergency number 0845 6060606.
