Arrest after man tried to grab boy on Wakefield estate

Police are seeking witnesses after man who tried to grab a young boy by the arm on a Wakefield estate

Wakefield District CID would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident which took place sometime between 7.30pm and 8pm on Watson Crescent in Eastmoor on Thursday, May 7.

The incident took place after the victim, an 11-year-old boy was approached by an unknown male, who tried to grab his arm.

The boy was able to run off home. He told his parents who then made a report to the police.

Extensive enquiries have been carried out and a 53-year-old man was arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Phil Davis of Wakefield CID said:

“We are investigating this suspicious incident and the circumstances of what took place, and I would very much like to speak with anyone who witnessed it or who has further information.

“Neighbourhood policing patrols have been stepped up in the area.
