Bogus workmen burgle 89-year-old's home in Castleford

Two bogus workmen stole cash from an 89-year-old after persuading him to have work done on his home.

The pensioner, who lives alone, and has restricted mobility and hearing difficulties, was approached to have his gutters cleaned by cold callers.

After working for a short time they asked for the money so they could buy additional supplies.

The money was handed over and the elderly victim carried on eating his lunch in his living room.

On returning into his kitchen he noticed that the door was open, the males had disappeared and all his money from his wallet was missing.

It is believed that the two males attended in a small white or silver van with ladders on the top.
