An elderly man had his tablet computer stolen after thieves sneaked into his house.

The silver and black iPad was taken from a property in Thornes sometime between 6am and 9am yesterday (Sunday).

Police said the victim had only opened his door for a breath of fresh air when someone crept in and took the device, before fleeing.

Officers are reminding people to keep their doors and windows closed if they are not in the room.
