A family are appealing for the safe return of their stolen pet.

Tina Nowell, 38, of Church Street, Ossett returned from a family birthday party in Manchester on Saturday, September 14, to find Tess their springer spaniel had been stolen.

The pet was taken from a yard at the equestrian business they run near Blacker Hall Farm.

She said: “She won’t even go up the lane on her own and isn’t the type of dog to run off. We searched through the night for her and the next day. Some one has definitely taken her because she could not have got out on her own.

“She has a son and he is totally lost without her. We all are.”

Tess’s picture has been shared by family, friends and strangers on facebook and businesses have been putting posters in their windows.

Mrs Nowell added: “We are totally devastated. We got her as a puppy for our twins who are 11 and we desperately want her back. “

Tess is an unusual-looking springer spaniel because she has had her tail docked. She has also been spayed so would be no good for breeding.
