A man accused of an historic sex offence has appeared in court.
David Leslie Tait, 55, of Pontefract Road, Featherstone, is charged with attempted rape, inflicting grievous bodily harm and making threats to kill.
All the alleged offences were said to have been committed on August 12, 1984 at a flat on Doncaster Road in Wakefield.
Tait was arrested and charged after a review of the case by West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
Prosecutor Charles MacRae said Tait denied the charges during Wednesday’s hearing. Tait was remanded in custody and is expected to appear at Leeds Crown Court later this month.
