John Ratcliff, mitigating, said his client took cannabis in the hope of achieving “calmness”.

But Habberjam left the building after magistrates had retired to consider sentence.

The chairman of the bench stated they had intended to activate the 12-week suspended sentence in full, with four weeks on top for the cannabis offence, making a total of 16 weeks in jail.

The magistrate then issued a warrant for Habberjam’s arrest.
