A company has stepped in to remove more than 1,000 old tyres that had been dumped at a nature reserve.

The tyres had been illegally fly-tipped at Brockadale Nature Reserve near Darrington, and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust sent out an appeal for help to remove them.

Motor company Protyre then got involved and shifted the worn tyres, which are thought to have been dumped by rogue traders.

It is thought they had been dumped overnight sometime between February 4 and 5.
