Pensioner, 91, targeted in bogus scam

A pensioner was tricked by fraudsters who said they needed to check her water.

The 91-year-old woman was visited by a man and a woman at her house in Flockton.

After the pair left the property she discovered money had been stolen.

The incident happened at around 4.30pm on Friday, February 20.

The man was described as white and between 30 and 40-years-old.

He had short black hair and was wearing grey overalls.

The woman was described as white, between 30 and 40-years-old and around 5ft 4in tall.

She had black curly hair and was wearing a full length coat over a long skirt.

DC Shaun Lewis said: “I would remind residents they are under no obligation to let cold callers into their homes.

“Genuine callers from local authorities or utilities will carry identification and have a number you can ring to confirm who they are.”
