A woman was verbally abused by a man on a train travelling between Outwood and Leeds.

British Transport Police have released CCTV images of the man they want to speak to.

PC Chris McGlynn said: “A 43-year old woman from Wakefield was travelling on the service when a man took objection to the amount of space she was taking up on the seat.

“Not wanting to get into a confrontation the woman ignored the man. He then knocked her hat off and verbally abused her. When the train arrived at York he refused to let the woman off and kept her on the train until it was empty, despite numerous pleas from her to move.

“The man eventually let her off the train but then continued to abuse and swear at her as she walked along the platform.

“This must have been a scary and frightening experience for the victim. If anyone witnessed the incident or recognises the man pictured please come forward.”

The incident happened between 6.25am and 6.35am on Wednesday, 12 February, as the train approached Leeds station.
