A prisoner serving life for murder and rape has admitted slashing the face of April Jones’s killer Mark Bridger at Wakefield Prison.

Juvinai Ferreira, 22, pleaded guilty over a video link at Leeds Crown Court today (Wednesday) to wounding Bridger with intent to do him grievous bodily harm on July 7.

Bridger was just a few months into his whole life sentence when he was attacked. He was sentenced in May at Mold Crown Court for the abduction and murder of five-year-old April in Machynlleth, Wales last October.

When Ferreira heard his case would be adjourned until October 2, he implored Judge Christopher Batty: “Can’t you just sentence me, I can’t keep coming back, just give me anything and move on.”

But the judge refused. He told him: “You cannot be sentenced today because the court needs to know more about you, what your previous conviction was about and consideration has going to be given as to where you should receive a further life sentence for your involvement in this particular offence.”
