Masked men assaulted a security outside Castleford supermarket in a smash-and-grab cash raid.
Wakefield CID have issued a witness appeal following the robbery at the Asda on Leeds Road in Glashoughton at 7.32am this morning (Thursday).
Two men assaulted a member of security staff, who is believed to have been delivering money, outside the store and made off with what police have said is a “substantial amount of cash”.
The men were both masked and made off in a black Peugeot car.
Detective Inspector Tim Hunt of Wakefield District CID, said: “Initial enquiries are ongoing regarding this incident and we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what took place.
“The security staff was left shaken by what occurred but was otherwise uninjured.”
An Asda spokesperson said: “We are assisting police with their investigation, but in the meantime our store and petrol forecourt remain open to customers.”
