A MUSIC teacher has been jailed for four years for having an affair with a pupil despite his victim’s pleas for him to be spared custody.

Craig Parkin, 26, of Manor Crescent, Walton, embarked on an 18-month affair with a 14-year-old pupil while he was head of music at an East Yorkshire School.

The teenage girl, who sobbed throughout the hearing at Hull Crown Court, has vowed to wait for him claiming she “loves” him.

Parkin admitted five counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of sexual activity whilst in a position of trust.

Mr Justice Coulson, passing sentence on Thursday said: “There are a large number of aggravating features including the gross breach of trust, the disparity of your ages and the length of time this relationship lasted.”
