Washing line prop used to burgle home

A burglar used a washing line prop that he poked through an open window to unlock a patio door.

Police say the thief was able to turn a key that had been left in the patio door using the long prop.

It happened at a Castleford home in the early hours of Friday morning, July 17.

A number of valuable items were stolen but a male has since been arrested while enquiries are ongoing.

It has led police to issue further warnings about leaving windows open and leaving keys in locked doors.
