NOSTELL: Nostell’s first team are away in a league game tomorrow against Barton Town Old Boys, meet at 12.30pm for a 3pm kick off. Tomorrow the reserves are at home to Rothwell Town, meet at 1.15pm for a kick off at 2.30pm. Nostell’s third team play away to local rivals Walton tomorrow, meet at 12.30pm for a 2pm kick off. On Tuesday, August 16 the first team play at home to Armthorpe Welfare in the League Cup, meet at 6.15pm for a kick off at 7.45pm. On Wednesday, August 17 the reserves are away to Featherstone Colliery, meet at 5pm for a 6.15pm kick off.

COUGARS: Two friendly matches have been arranged for tomorrow at home against Sharlston “A” kick off 2.30pm to be played at the Community Centre. On Thursday August 18 an away game against Normanton Knights “A”, kick off 7pm.

READING GROUP: Members met at the White Horse at Sharlston to review the book “Half of a Yellow Sun” after which they enjoyed a meal. Their next meeting is on Wednesday, September 7 in the library at 7pm to discuss the book “The Very Thought of You” by Rosie Alison. New members welcome.

BATTY ABOUT BATS: Residents and friends visited Anglers Country Park last night to spot bats and learn about the different species. The talk which was followed by a walk was organised by the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group and West Yorkshire Bat Group.

DARBY AND JOAN: Meetings for the Crofton Darby and Joan club have now finished for the Summer and will resume on Wednesday, September 14.

TUESDAY WALKERS: The next walk planned for the Tuesday Walkers will be on Tuesday, August 16. Meet at noon on the car park at the Crofton Community Centre.

GARDEN PARTY: For members of Crofton Mothers Club there will be a Summer Garden Party on Thursday, August 18 at the home of Honor Bennett of 51, Brand Hill Drive, Crofton from 7.30pm. Will members please take along a savoury or dessert dish.

CROFTON WMC: Male vocalist Dean Alexander will be singing tomorrow evening at Crofton WMC.

FRANK BEECH-DYSON: Frank, of Crofton, passed away on August 3rd in Pinderfields Hospital aged 82 years. He was a keen supporter of Ackworth CC. His funeral will take place on Monday, August 15 at 10.45am at All Saints Church in Ackworth. He leaves a wife Josie and a son Philip.

LEE RICHARDS: Lee travelled down to Lands End in Cornwall last weekend in preparation for his bike ride from Lands End to John O Groats. To sponsor Lee who is raising money for Wakefield Hospice visit

DISCO: Tomorrow at The Weavers Green starting at 7.30pm disco with spot prizes.

ANGLING: The next fishing match for members of Nostell Miners Angling club takes place on Sunday August 14 at East Stoke on the River Trent.
