Cyclist tackles 200 miles on his bike in his mum's memory

A determined fundraiser tackled a 200-mile bike ride through wind and rain to thank the Prince of Wales Hospice for helping his mum.

Paul Brannon and his friends managed to complete the cycle in just a day.

The ride was organised by Mr Brannon in memory of his mum, Joan Valerie Brannon who spent time in the Pontefract hospice.

Mr Brannon said “It was quite emotional at times especially at the hospice as it was the first time some of us had been back there since my Mum died.

“But we all worked as a team and supported each other, and kept our focus on why we were taking on this challenge. It was a challenge to be proud of and a good way to remember someone who was very special to a lot of people and we raised some much needed funds for the hospice – I almost want to do it again now.”

Alice Coggan, events and community fundraising assistant, said: “Paul has done such an amazing job. He’s pulled together a great fundraiser and we really appreciate his efforts.”

Mr Brannon is aiming to raise £4,000. Visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Pauls-pals200 to donate.
