Dates set for Wakefield, Pontefract and Castleford Christmas lights switch ons

The countdown to Christmas has begun and Wakefield Council has confirmed the dates for this year’s lights switch on events across the district.

Wakefield city centre will be transformed into a winter wonderland when the lights are switched on in Wakefield Cathedral precinct and the Bullring on Thursday, November 12.

There will also be stalls and entertainment in the city centre during the day before the lights are switched on at 5pm.

Pontefract’s Christmas lights will be switched on in the town’s market place near St Giles’ Church on Monday, November 23 at 6.30pm.

Castleford’s Christmas lights will be switched on at 5.30pm on Tuesday, November 24 on Carlton Street.

There will also be stalls, children’s rides and entertainment at the Pontefract and Castleford events.

Further details of entertainment and other Christmas events across the district are yet to be announced.
