People living close by were evacuated from their homes and shops and other businesses were forced to close.

Det Sgt Pete Whittam, of Wakefield CID, said: “We are investigating the circumstances of this incident with fire service investigators and, while we are not treating it as suspicious currently, have yet to establish a cause.

“For that reason I would appeal to anyone who was present in the Bradley Street area shortly before the fire broke out and who may have seen it start or who has any information at all to contact us to help us build a better picture of what took place.”

Anyone with any information should contact DC 6318 Atkinson at Wakefield CID on 101.
