Don’t forget the clocks go forward on Sunday

People are being reminded that the clocks will go forward an hour this weekend.

The UK will switch to British Summer Time (BST) at 1am on Sunday morning, meaning people will lose an hour’s sleep.

The change (often called daylight saving time) will mean there is more daylight in the evenings but less in the mornings.

British Summer Time was first enforced in 1916 during the First World War in a bid to save money during wartime.

The current system has been in place since 1972.

BST will last until the clocks go back again in autumn on Sunday, October 25.
