Driver crashes into children's library in Wakefield city centre

A car lost control in Wakefield city centre last night and crashed into the children's library of the Wakefield One building.

The incident is thought to have happened at around 9.30pm when a driver lost control, mounted the pavement and smashed into a tree and a pillar before colliding with the Burton Street building.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

The damage was sustained to the children's library area, although it was minimal after the roadside pillar took the brunt of the impact.

It is unknown if the driver was injured in the crash.

Wakefield Council took to social media this morning to say that all services are continuing as normal.
