the Songo Drummers, pictured, were one of 10 acts putting on a show in Wakefield Cathedral last Friday at One World Music Night.
An audience of more than 450 enjoyed a strirring combination of music and song at the opening event of Refugee Week in the city.
The cathedral’s education office Ali Bullivent said: “People were dancing in the aisles and grooving on the pews.
“The positive feedback from it has been extraordinary and shows that there is a real heart and energy for experiencing music and dance from different traditions.
“We are so excited that the cathedral is becoming known as a centre for celebrating the best in arts in the district.”
