Eastmoor double killing latest - Horbury School in mourning for former pupils

A SCHOOL is in mourning for three former pupils.

Horbury School will hold a remembrance service for former pupils, murder victims Kimberley Frank, 17, and Samantha Sykes, 18, who were found in a flat in Eastmoor during the early hours of Saturday.

And the school will also remember Jennifer Smith, 18, from Outwood, who died after falling from the Chasley Hotel also during the early hours of Saturday in unrelated incident.

Headteacher Miriam Oakley said: “The whole school is really shocked and everyone is extremely sad.

“A lot of the staff and pupils remember the girls well.

“They were lovely, hardworking, intelligent young women.”

Pupils are now organising a remembrance service which will pay tribute to all three teenagers.

Miss Frank was found at her flat on Barden Road, Eastmoor, with her friend Miss Sykes.

Police say they both died of multiple stab wounds.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is still being questioned by police.

Miss Smith died in hospital after suffering fatal injuries after falling from the sixth floor window of the city centre hotel.

Police said they are not treating Miss Smith’s death as suspicious at this moment.
